lic.LicGetModuleInfo

This job determines information (type, maximum number of users) about the license for the specified module.

1. Input Parameters

Name Type Required Description

Flags

INT

Yes

Pass 0. On 12.0, 1 changes the behaviour for modules without a license entry (see Modules Without a License Entry).

Module

STRING

Yes

Short label of the requested module

2. Output Parameters

Name Type Dependency Description

Result

STRING

—

Five comma-separated fields with the license characteristics of the module, e.g. 5,C,0,1,1 (see Structure of Result)

3. Return Value

(INT): 0 = Job successful, otherwise error code.

4. Structure of Result

Field Meaning

1

MaxUseCount: maximum number of clients that can use the module

2

License type:
N = module can only be used by clients at specific workstations
C = module can be used by clients of respective workstations, but only by a certain number (MaxUseCount)
U = universal license

3

Number of configurations that can be created

4

Not documented; 1 in all measurements

5

Not documented; 1 in all measurements

Observed values: 5,C,0,1,1, 10,C,0,1,1, 1,N,0,1,1, 5,U,0,1,1.

Result does not tell whether the module is usable for the calling station; lic.CheckLicense checks that.

5. Modules Without a License Entry

For a module without a license entry and for an unknown label, the response depends on Flags and on the server version:

Flags enaio® 12.0 enaio® 10.10

0

Error -1042218753

Error -1042218753

1

Return value 0, Result = 0,?,0,0,0

Error -1042218753

For modules with a license entry (types C, N and U), Flags = 0, 1 and 2 return the same Result (measured on two installations of 12.0 and on 10.10). Values other than 0 and 1 were not tested for modules without a license entry. The vendor does not document this behaviour.

The server message for -1042218753 reads Error in the resource administration. Component: GetASLicString, resource: <X>, error: -1, with the comment Please check the entries in the OS resources table. According to a system operator, the error creates an entry in the server’s error log; this was not measured.

A caller that has to support both server versions should treat both -1042218753 and ? in the second field of Result as "no license entry".
